Mechanisms
When 3d modeling mechanisms there are a few things to keep in mind.
- Tolerance is the gap between the moving parts in your mechanisms. Each 3d printer will print your model a little bigger than in your file, so it is important to leave some space in your model for this expansion. Remember that the expansion is different on every 3d printer so check and see what tolerances your printer is capable of.
- Always remember your mechanism can include other non-printed parts. You can include wood, fabric, metal, bearings, wire or any other material in your designs!
- Plastic can be fragile and don't expect it to carry heavy loads.
